Brandt's journal

Brandt's journal is a personal diary written entirely in German by Doctor Erica Brandt, the Karotechia scientist accompanying Karl von Drexler's Scions of the Black Sun. It was recovered by H-Cell during their initial foray to the Oasis of Whispers. The bulk of the journal remained untranslated until Lieutenant Pendleton reviewed it, revealing Brandt's deep distrust of Drexler, her terror of Das Ungerhauer, her speculations about an 'unstable synthesis' involving alchemy, and her private plans to usurp Drexler's control of the creature if necessary. The final entries detail preparations to remove an artifact from the Oasis, with a Luftwaffe transport plane scheduled to arrive within the week — intelligence that gave H-Cell a specific operational window. Hanover handed the journal to Pendleton for translation, warning him that much of it may be written in euphemistic or obfuscatory terms, and urging him to consult the cell before acting on its contents.
