Battlefield

The Battlefield is the open ground surrounding the Oasis of Whispers where the final confrontation between H-Cell, the Hedgehog SOE team, and the Karotechia operatives took place. Situated within a wadi in the Egyptian Desert, it encompasses the German vehicle camp, a machine gun emplacement, the cave entrance, a central pool, and the tent area housing Brandt and her guard. The battle here was devastating: Das Ungerhauer emerged from the western cave, absorbed sustained fire, decapitated Private Harris, and drove most of those present to temporary insanity. Haze ultimately brought the creature down with concentrated submachine gun fire, while beneath the ground, root-like tentacles of filament heart material were observed withdrawing from the earth as the ritual above disturbed something deeper.
